SUMMARY:Running peer support programmes
DESCRIPTION:We’re excited to announce our next RareChat event!\n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\nIn this 90-minute online event\, we will be focusing on different types of ”Peer Support Programmes”. \nWe will facilitate a conversation among patient group leaders and advocates –especially those experienced running peer support programmes\, and those that have been part of them in any form! \nWe will talk about impact and experiences\, challenges and advice for driving the programme’s success\, both as organisers and participants. \n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				About the Event\nRare disease patient groups often operate with limited resources and small teams\, making peer support a crucial\, low-cost solution for building connections\, learning from others\, and overall community support. Peer support programmes provide critical emotional and professional guidance. While they can adopt many shapes\, they all significantly help: \n\n\nBuild trust and connect patients and caregivers to others with similar health experiences \n\n\nCreate a sense of community and reduce social isolation \n\n\nIncrease confidence and develop personal and professional skills of those involved \n\n\nHowever\, organising and managing these programmes comes with its own set of challenges\, including funding\, personal commitments\, personal boundaries and fidelity to the programmes. \n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Join us to discuss\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n\nDifferent types of peer support programmes and how they benefit our community\nChallenges and best practices for organising\, managing and participating in these programmes\nReal-life experiences and insights from patient group leaders and advocates\nThe impact these programmes can have on wellbeing\, confidence\, and skill development\n\n\nCome along to share your opinions and hear from your fellow patient group leaders.
