Findacure’s response to Coronavirus

by | Mar 10, 2020

Updated 16th March 2020

With the recent developments regarding Covid-19 (Coronavirus), we have been considering Findacure’s response to the outbreak.

Following discussions within the team, and with our board of Trustees, we feel the priority for Findacure is protecting the health and well-being of any rare disease patients who may fall into the vulnerable category for the condition. As many individuals we work with may either be in contact with such people, or be vulnerable themselves, it is important that we are mindful of these issues during our project planning.

As of 10th March, we have made the decision to delay our face-to-face events moving forward, including workshops and mentoring events. These will now be scheduled for a later date, following a review of the situation in a couple of months.

In the interim, we will continue our support of rare disease patient groups through an increase of online training, using our webinar series and e-learning courses. We hope these measures will limit the potential for transmission to vulnerable individuals through both interaction and travel, while maintaining Findacure’s commitment to rare disease patients.

Aside from these measures, we will be reviewing our travel plans and meetings, with the aim of responding to the threat in line with government recommendations and minimising risk to vulnerable individuals.

Please check back to the Findacure news feed for further updates, or email info@findacure.org.uk if you have any questions or concerns.

Update: Patient Group Mentoring Event, 18th March – CANCELLED

The patient group mentoring event scheduled for 18th March in London, has now been cancelled.

In its place, we will be hosting an online welcoming event for the 2020-21 incoming cohort, which will take place via a webinar, scheduled for 1pm – 3pm on 18th March. Findacure will be in touch directly with anyone affected by these change in plans.

Update: Findacure working from home

From the 16th of March, the Findacure team office will only be staffed sporadically, and we expect to be moving to the full team working from home in the near future. We recommend that if you need to contact us, please reach out by email first. We can then arrange calls directly from there.
